Privacy Policy

When you use the scan flow, the app may use:

• Photos you choose or capture for analysis
• Optional context you provide, such as approximate region or where the mushroom was photographed
• Basic technical information needed to operate the app, such as request metadata handled by hosting and infrastructure providers

On iOS, the app may request access to your camera or photo library so you can capture or select mushroom photos for analysis. Camera and photo library access are initiated only when you choose to add a photo in the scan flow. The app does not access your camera or photo library in the background.

Photos submitted for analysis are sent to the app's server so they can be processed for a risk-awareness response. The app uses submitted photos and context to generate an assessment that may include possible visual matches, uncertainty signals, dangerous lookalike concerns, and recommended next steps. Submitted photos are not sold, shared with third parties for advertising purposes, or used for any purpose other than generating your risk-awareness assessment. Photos alone cannot confirm mushroom identity, safety, freshness, contamination, or handling history.

The app uses a third-party AI provider, Anthropic, to assist with visual analysis of submitted photos and context. Submitted photos and context may be transmitted to Anthropic for processing. AI outputs can be incomplete or incorrect, so the app applies additional safety rules and normalization before showing results. The app is hosted and served using Vercel. Requests to the app may be processed through Vercel infrastructure.

The app does not intentionally store submitted mushroom photos after an assessment is returned. Assessment results may be stored temporarily in your device session so the result screen can be displayed. This temporary data is not backed up or synced and may be cleared by closing the app, clearing app data, or starting a new scan. Because submitted photos and context pass through third-party infrastructure for processing, they may be temporarily processed or retained according to those providers' policies.

No account is required to use the current scan flow. The current build may show a field history or account prompt after a result. Account creation and saved scan history are not active in this build. If enabled in a future version, this policy will be updated to describe what information is stored and how users can manage or delete it.

This app does not collect personal analytics profiles. Hosting and infrastructure providers may process basic technical logs — such as request timing and error data — needed to operate and debug the service. These logs are not used to identify individual users.

This app is not directed to children under 13 and is not designed or marketed for use by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

No result from this app should be interpreted as permission to eat a mushroom. The app does not confirm mushroom identity, does not determine whether a mushroom is safe to eat, and does not replace expert verification.

This privacy policy may be updated as the app changes. Updates will be reflected by changing the policy text and effective date.
